James Barrat is a documentary filmmaker, speaker, and author of the nonfiction book Our Final Invention: Artificial Intelligence and the End of the Human Era. We discuss the progress in financing and engineering AI – the issues of AI safety are still just as relevant as they were in 2013. James thinks we need policy reform – if anyone wants to make a difference, run for cabinet or alert those in cabinet of the issues around AI safety.
We also discuss if AI can help with the AI safety problem itself – in relation to whether AI can understand.
